Nord: Piano vs Electro vs Stage vs Grand

Nord's four main lines look alike in photographs and differ completely in what they can do, which is the single most common question about the brand. Piano is piano sounds only, with the best action of the portable line. Electro is the organ-and-piano performer's board. Stage is everything at once - piano, organ and a full synth engine. Grand is a Piano with a weighted action and a home-piano feel. Wave, Lead and C2D cover the synth, the analogue-modelling lead and the dedicated organ. We hold 25 Nord instruments.

One table per line

Every line below carries the same columns so the differences are readable: release year, key count, action, polyphony, amplification and weight. Where a line has no speakers at all, the table says so - Nord's stage instruments are designed to be amplified externally.

Nord Stage - all three engines

This is the line that answers "I want everything": piano, organ and synth in one instrument, which is also why it is the heaviest of the portable models.

How to choose a line

Piano only, best feel. The Piano line. You give up the organ and the synth, and you get the weighted action and the focus.

One board for a cover band. Stage, or Electro if the synth engine is not needed. The weights in the tables above are the deciding column when you carry it yourself.

Home use. Grand. It is the only line in the range designed around a weighted action and internal amplification rather than a stage bag.

Organ first. Electro or C2D - drawbar control and the lightest chassis. Neither has an acoustic-piano action, deliberately.

Nord models are also the ones most often compared across brands: see our stage-piano pages and the discontinued picks for the earlier generations, which our tables above list with their documented release years.

Every maker at a glance - the full map of lines, rungs and price bands - is on the model ladders overview.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Nord Piano, Electro and Stage?

Piano is a piano-only instrument with the line's best portable action; Electro adds the organ drawbar section and is lighter; Stage carries piano, organ and a full synth engine in one chassis. The three tables above list the specs we hold for each model.

Does Nord Stage have weighted keys?

The Stage line ships in 88-key hammer-action and shorter semi-weighted versions, which is why the key count and action columns differ inside the table. The exact configuration per model is listed above.

Which Nord is lightest?

The Electro and Wave/Lead models are the lightest in the range; the weight column in each table gives the documented figure.

Do Nord keyboards have speakers?

No - Nord's stage instruments are designed for external amplification, and our speaker column reflects that rather than hiding it.
