Chinese digital keyboard brands, explained (52)

Over the last decade China built a real keyboard industry: OEM factories that engineer instruments for European house brands, and direct-to-consumer names that sell hundreds of thousands of boards through Amazon. This guide maps who is who - and lists every model from these makers in our database.

Two different "Chinese brands"

OEM factories with their own names. Medeli (Zhongshan) engineers arrangers and portable keyboards sold under its own label and inside European house brands. Ringway builds ensemble keyboards and organs. Amason is the digital-piano arm of Pearl River - the largest piano manufacturer in the world. Buying their own-brand gear means factory-direct pricing on factory-engineered instruments.

Direct-to-consumer Amazon names. Donner, Artesia, Souidmy, LAGRIMA and friends are Western-registered brands sourcing from Chinese factories and selling straight to buyers online. The instruments are real and often fine for the price - but spec sheets inflate numbers (especially polyphony), action names are marketing, and support lives in an Amazon chat rather than a service network.

What to check before buying

Key action: is it actually hammer-weighted or just "velocity-sensitive"? (Our spec tables name the exact action.) Polyphony: treat claims above 128 with suspicion unless the engine is named. Bluetooth/USB audio: often "app support" instead of real audio-over-USB. And resale: these models are discontinued faster than big-brand gear, so buy the instrument, not the investment.
